Frequently asked questions

Administrative

  • The University currently operates free heartland shuttle services departing at 5pm (Monday – Friday, excluding public holidays) to Ang Mo Kio, Sengkang, and Tampines MRT stations on a first-come-first-served basis. NTU’s free heartland shuttle services operates only during term time.

U-Ride operating alongside the heartland shuttle, supplements these services by:

    · Guaranteed seats through online pre-booking.

    · Serving additional locations - Punggol, Tampines East, and Yishun

    · Offering later departure times (6:10 PM)

This trial service was developed in response to the feedback highlighted in the 2024 Transport Survey run by NTUSU’s Research and Policy Committee (RPC).

  • All fares are directly paid to the service provider to cover operational costs, including chartering the buses and for the booking and payment systems. NTUSU does not profit from this initiative.

  • The University’s free heartland shuttle bus services remain unchanged.

U-Ride is a trial shuttle bus service, which operates independently of NTU’s existing heartland shuttle. It is designed to complement and not replace NTU’s heartland shuttle services.

NTU’s existing heartland shuttle services will continue to operate independently of U-Ride.

  • As a student-led initiative, our goal is to provide affordable and sustainable transport options for our fellow students.

The ticket price was derived from the operating costs of the service—covering both the bus charter and the integrated booking platform—while balancing the need to offer affordable transport for our fellow students.

We will continue to review feedback after the trial and explore ways to adjust costs further, should the trial prove successful.

TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

  • Missed rides are non-refundable. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before departure for ticket checks.

  • Currently, bookings are final and non-refundable.

  • Currently, buses are not wheelchair-accessible. We are looking into making future iterations of this service to be more inclusive, should the trial be successful.
